Hi, my name is Amber Wheat. I am a legal assistant here at Demas & Rosenthal. I became interested in the legal field when I was looking for college programs that don't follow the normal four year semester system. I wanted a fast track to a career and ended up attending MTI College in Sacramento and getting my AA Degree in Paralegal Studies.
Knowledge of the law has changed my views on a lot of issues. I used to believe that people who brought lawsuits were just looking for a free ride, but after working here and meeting our clients, I know that that isn't true. These people were hurt, their lives were forever changed and I am glad to be a part of the team that fights for their rights. If you've been hurt by somebody, you should be compensated, it's only right. I know that the majority of people would give all the settlements back, if only they could be returned to the health they enjoyed before they were hurt.
I work hard everyday and hope that my best makes a difference in these cases. My job here consists of drafting letters, ordering medical records and wage loss records, answering client questions, getting the status of injuries and treatment, drafting first round discovery, running errands, and doing the prospective medical malpractice clients intake. So if you call with a medmal case you will probably speak with me first. I do a lot of other odd and end stuff too, basically I am here to do whatever Barbara or John need me to do.
I am not an attorney so I apologize if my posts are pedantic and amateur. I write about whatever comes to mind that I think people who visit and/or post on this site might be interested in reading.
