Barry grew up in Evanston, Illinois and attended the University of Michigan for his undergraduate education and Loyola University of Chicago for his legal education. He completed his law degree with honors, finishing in the top 10% of his law school class. Since receiving his license in 1994, he has been engaged exclusively in the representation of injured people and their families in personal injury and wrongful death litigation.
He has successfully handled to conclusion many different types of accident cases, including: automobile accidents, construction accidents, medical malpractice cases, nursing home abuse and neglect cases, trucking accidents, motorcycle accidents, slip-and-fall cases, dog bite cases, and other general negligence cases. He has tried over 40 cases in jury trials, bench trials, and/or binding arbitration hearings to conclusion.
He belongs to the Illinois State Bar Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Association for Justice, where he is a member of the Nursing Home Litigation Group, the Interstate Trucking Litigation Group, and the Traumatic Brain Injury Litigation Group. He is a past co-chair of the Tort (Personal Injury) Litigation Committee of the Young Lawyers Section of the Chicago Bar Association and is a former Adjunct Professor at Loyola University of Chicago School of Law.
He is the author of several publications and seminar papers for lawyers addressing such topics as: accident reconstruction evidence, the sole proximate cause defense in personal injury cases, insurance bad faith litigation, and settlement of wrongful death cases. He has spoken to lawyers groups on topics dealing with insurance bad faith litigation and wrongful death settlements.
He lives in Chicago with his wife, Sharon.
