Bret Hanna’s practice focuses exclusively on litigating plaintiffs’ medical malpractice and catastrophic personal injury cases. Bret has represented clients in state and federal courts, in mediations, and in administrative proceedings in Michigan and Utah since he began practicing in 1991.
Bret was born in Addison, Michigan on August 15, 1965 and was raised in Northwest Ohio. He graduated magna cum laude from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1987 with a B.A. in political science. In1991, he earned a Juris Doctor and a Masters Degree in Public Affairs from the joint degree program offered by the School of Law and the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University. He was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 1991 and the Utah State Bar in 1994. He is currently admitted to practice before the Michigan Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan, the Utah Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the District of Utah and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Bret is a member of the American Association for Justice, is a member of and serves on the Board of Governors of the Utah Association for Justice, and he is the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Utah AIDS Foundation. He was also included in Utah Business Magazine’s 2008 and 2009 Legal Elite for his work in personal injury and has been awarded the highest possible AV Peer Rating by LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell.
