James's Biography

I am a third-year law student at Arizona State University in Phoenix, Arizona.   My professional goal is to have my own practice or  to associate with a well-respected attorney and to represent victims while doing as much trial work as possible.

I have been working with InjuryBoard for over a year.   I began working as a student blogger for the Fairbanks, Alaska affiliate, Merdes & Merdes.   I am still blogging for them today.

I am currently also the Assignment Desk Editor, supervising other law student bloggers who assist our member attorneys in generating blog content.

I am also a project coordinator for the InjuryBoard Foundation, the charitable arm of InjuryBoard.com.   Our initial event has our members banding together to donate dozens of Nintendo Wiis to local rehabilitation centers.   It is set to happen the first three mondays in August.

When not studying, or doing work for IB, I work for a large Plaintiff's firm here in Arizona and perform freelance legal research and writing for extra cash.

When I'm not working, my wife and I coach college and high school mock trial.  We also organize mock trial tournaments and camps.   We teach a course for ASU's Barrett Honors College on trial advocacy.   I offer two versions of the course--an advanced version for undergraduate honors students in the spring and a beginner's version in the summer for gifted 8th and 9th grade students.

When not working, teaching, or doing something with mock trial, I like to read and manage online college basketball dynasty simulations at www.whatifsports.com/hd.
