I am a personal injury attorney. There. I said it. I admit it. And I'm proud of it. I know what people say about us: We're bottom feeders. We're ambulance chasers. We're just in it for the money.
But I'm not. I got into this area of law because I saw firsthand how insurance companies take advantage of accident victims - and then I saw what a difference a fair and just settlement makes. Injury and accident law is tricky, and it's not any easier when you add on top of that the stress of medical bills and being hassled by the insurance adjuster. It's not fair. And if there were a better way, I wouldn't have anything to do with it. Unfortunately, it's become a necessary evil in our society, and there's no reason why the large corporations should have all the lawyers looking out for their best interest.
That's why I co-founded this firm with my business partner Sean DuBois. Shulman DuBois LLC is located in Portland, Oregon, where we focus on helping accident victims who have been seriously injured. The firm's practice areas include car, truck, and motorcycle accidents; bicycle-car collisions; hit-and-run accidents; ATV rollovers, pedestrian accidents; and injuries to children and minors. Sean and I started this firm because we wanted to help families during a difficult time - physically, emotionally, and financially.
Outside the law firm, I am a father and husband. Before getting into law, I spent some time traveling, then worked for a few years on an organic farm. I had actually applied to law school before all of this, but worked with a corporate firm in Boston, where I got a bad taste in my mouth. Law just didn't seem lie it was for me. I withdrew my applications and set off on other things. It was quite an experience. And since then, I moved back to Portland with my family and started to think again about going into law.
And now here I am, with my own practice, and doing what I consider to be a great success: doing a job I love, and love doing it.
