    A 57-year-old pedestrian who was hit by an SUV Thursday night is recovering this morning from head injuries, police said. The woman is in stable condition at Hartford Hospital, police said. The woman was struck while crossing Hartford Turnpike in Vernon, CT. The accident remains under investigation.

    A West Hartford woman died in a car accident near the Mohegan Sun Casino on Route 2a this morning, state police said. Wendy Jenkins, 28, of Lovelace Drive, died in a head-on collision with another vehicle around 1:51 a.m., state police said. She was driving the wrong way on a highway ramp. The driver and passengers of the other vehicle suffered non-threatening injuries.

She was arrested for driving while intoxicated and driving the wrong way among other charges. Fortunately, no one was injured during the accident near exit 22 at 1:53 a.m.
