Something (Other than "X") Marks the Spot: Standard of Care for Avoiding Wrong-Site Surgeries, Part 2
Mark Perlmutter and Brooks Schuelke have over forty years of combined experience representing clients in personal injury and trial litigation. Our goal in each case is to minimize the stress on our clients and to maximize their fair recovery. We adjust our style on each case to reach those goals. To minimize the stress on the client, we will let the client be as involved (or uninvolved) in the process as the client likes. We also adjust our tactics in order to maximize our clients' fair recoveries. That means that in some cases our role is more of problem solver trying to work with the other parties to determine a fair recovery and reach a resolution at that number as soon as possible. And in other cases it means aggressively litigating and trying the case. Mark and Brooks are both active outside their law practices. Mark is an adjunct professor at the University of Texas and the University of Texas School of Law. At the law school, he teaches the very popular "Trialmasters" course that focuses on trial tactics, persuasion, and legal ethics. He has also been very involved in numerous bar association positions, including currently serving on the State Bar of Texas professionalism committee that is charged with re-writing the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct.Brooks has also been active in the community. For years he served on the Board of Directors of the Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve, including serving two terms as president of the board. He is currently active in the First United Methodist Church of Austin, serving on its administrative board and coordinating team. Brooks is also an alumnus of Leadership Austin.
