Betsy Greene graduated from Indiana University of Law in Bloomington, Indiana in 1982. She began her her legal career as a deputy prosecuting attorney in Morgan County. She was appointed Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in 1985. As Chief Deputy, Ms. Greene tried many felony cases, specializing in cases involving the abuse and neglect of children.
In 1988, Ms. Greene went into private practice with a personal injury firm in 1988, trying jury trials across the state of Indiana. Ms. Greene was named a partner in the firm in 1990 and remained at Nunn & Greene Law Office until January, 2005. During this time, Ms. Greene established her reputation as one of the premier trial lawyers in the state of Indiana, trying over 65 personal injury cases to verdict.
In June, 2005, Ms. Greene joined forces with her partner Fred Schultz to form the law firm of Greene & Schultz Trial Lawyers. The firm represents only those who have been hurt and injured by the carelessness of others. Greene & Schultz aggressively stands up for the rights of their clients.
Ms. Greene has served the legal community in many ways and strives to advance the profession. She is past president of the Indiana Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (2005), past president of the Monroe County Bar Association (2005) and past president of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association (2006-2007), serving on the Executive Committee of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association from 1994 to 2008. Currently, she is an Emeritus Director of ITLA and has been inducted into the College of Fellows. Ms. Greene is currently the president elect of the Trial Lawyers College alumni Board of Directors.
Ms. Greene is particularly proud of her association with Gerry Spence's Trial Lawyers College. In July 2005, Ms. Greene graduated from the prestigious college located at Thunderhead Ranch in Dubois, Wyoming. She attended additional training in the Trial Lawyers College method of trying cases as well. In addition to her participation in the Trial Lawyers College, Ms. Greene was appointed an adjunct professor at the Indiana School of Law teaching Trial Advocacy, spring semester 2008.
Ms. Green has been consistently recognized for the quality of her work by her peers. Ms. Greene was selected as an Indiana “Super Lawyer” by Law and Politics Magazine (selected as among the top 5% of practicing Indiana attorneys in a peer review and evaluation process) the first time the list was published in 2004. She has been named to that same list every year since. In 2007, she was featured a Top 50 attorney by the same magazine.
Ms. Greene received her first certificate in Civil Trial Advocacy from the National Board of Trial Advocacy on November 21, 1995. Ms. Greene was certified again on November 22, 2000 and certified again on November 21, 2005 and is currently one of forty certified trial lawyers in the State of Indiana. Ms. Greene has earned Advocate status in the American Association for Justice’s National College of Advocacy. In addition to the board certification, Ms. Greene achieved the highest rating from Martindale-Hubble, the national lawyer rating service.
