An 86-year-old man drove his car through a crowded farmers' market in Santa Monica, California Wednesday killing 10 people and injuring 50 others. Witnesses said Russell Weller, who may face manslaughter charges, drove through a three-block stretch of the market reserved for pedestrians only. Police called the aftermath "horrific" as dozens of bloodied bodies were strewn across the pavement, including a 7-month-old boy who died Thursday. Santa Monica Police Chief James Butts Jr. described the accident as one of the worst he had seen in 30 years of duty.

Investigators have yet to determine why Weller drove his car through the market. Toxicology tests have returned negative and authorities believe the accident was unintentional. Initial reports indicate that Weller may have pressed the accelerator instead of the brake when he entered the market.
