Several high-profile defendants, including Georgia-Pacific Corp. and Mobil Oil Corp., have settled with four plaintiffs in an asbestos case. The trial involved four consolidated cases against eleven defendants--each manufacturers or suppliers of asbestos products. The plaintiffs either currently suffer from mesothelioma or represent family members who died from the rare cancer, caused by asbestos exposure. The $11.5 million settlement was announced four days into the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas trial.

The plaintiffs, Patricia Harahan for the estate of Bernard Harahan, Joseph and June Toland, John and Helen Hollingsworth and Joseph Galada for the estate of his wife, Virginia Galada, claimed the eleven defendants failed to warn consumers of the dangers of asbestos. Other defendants named in the suit included Carlock Corp., Pecora Corp., Westinghouse Electric Corp., American Standard, Flintkote Co., General Electric Corp. and Pfizer Inc.
