A federal jury awarded a Chicago woman $300,000 in damages after determining that two police officers falsely arrested the woman. Officers Kevin Osborn and Mark Gibson were led to the home of Felicia Tolson while searching for a teenager who had escaped their custody. According to Tolson, the officers entered her home failing to provide identification or a search warrant. After an argument ensued, Tolson allegedly pushed Officer Osborn, who then arrested her for aggravated battery.
Tolson told jurors that she suffers from post-traumatic stress syndrome and depression because of the arrest. She claimed she was forced to quit her job at Cook County Jail because of the embarrassing felony arrest.
