A victim of the Columbine High School shootings has filed a lawsuit against the maker of the antidepressant drug Luvox, alleging the medication's side effects contributed to the attacks. In 1999, Columbine students Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold killed one teacher and 12 of their classmates before killing themselves. Luvox, which has been linked to violent and suicidal behavior, was found in Harris' system during an autopsy performed by the Jefferson County, Colorado coroner.

Mark Taylor, who was shot several times by the attackers, filed suit against Luvox's maker Solvay Pharmaceuticals, claiming that the medication's warning label should have alerted consumers to its adverse side effects. Luvox belongs to a group of medications known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). SSRIs, which include Prozac, Paxil and Zoloft, have been linked to violent behavior and suicide.
