A Disney spokesperson announced that there was no risk to Walt Disney World visitors stemming from a costume-wearing employee diagnosed with active Tuberculosis. The spokesperson also announced that Disney would not conduct TB tests on any of the visitors to the park.

The Orange County Health Department confirmed that Disney representatives contacted the agency and that the health department agreed that tests were not necessary. Tests were not required because contracting tuberculosis requires extended periods of exposure to the disease and such exposure was unlikely to result from a visit to the park. An additional factor in this decision was that the infected employee was wearing a character costume that included a mask.
