A man dying of cancer recently accepted a $6.5 million settlement from a doctor who misdiagnosed his disease seventeen years earlier. The man, who remains anonymous, visited the doctor in 1984 complaining of painful erections and lesions in his groin area. The doctor did not recognize the problem.

In 1997 the man's penis was amputated due to advanced stage cancer. In 1999 the cancer metastasized, spreading lesions throughout the man's lungs. Medical experts say the evidence indicates that the man had cancer in 1984 when he made his initial visit to the doctor. Unfortunately, as a result of the original doctor's negligence, the man will most likely die.
