Elevated Pesticide Levels In Honduras

In the aftermath of Hurricane Mitch in 1998, the Centers for Disease Control tested the pesticide levels in the urine of teenagers in Honduras, a country hit hard by the storm. Alarmingly high levels of pesticides were found. The results were even more surprising because the pesticides at issue have been banned in the country. These pesticides can cause physical problems like headaches, nausea and vomiting and increase the risk of breast and other forms of cancer.
