A Jacksonville, Florida teenager acquitted last year of murder charges intends to file a lawsuit against the state's Department of Juvenile Justice. Brenton Butler, 15, and his family allege that juvenile justice workers and Jacksonville Police Department officers beat a confession out of the young man and then collaborated to conceal the incident. Butler and his family have already filed suit against the police department.

Butler was charged with the murder of Georgia tourist Mary Ann Stephens after police say the teen confessed to the crime. Jurors, though, acquitted Butler and subsequently charged two other men.
