Ford to Decide if Tire Replacements are Safe

Ford is soon expected to announce its decision on whether to remove certain tires from its list of replacements for the Firestone Wilderness ATs. Questions were raised during last week's congressional hearings regarding the failure rate of the tires Ford has been using as replacements for the Firestones. Congressman Billy Tauzin (R - La.) presented evidence that several of the brands Ford uses as replacements actually have higher failure rates than the Firestone Wilderness ATs. To date, Congressman Tauzin has refused to divulge which brands his figures represent.
