One of the nation's leading integrated services corporations, UNICCO, has settled a $1 million lawsuit filed by seven female employees who alleged they were sexually harassed during their tenure with the company. The women, all young immigrants, will split $500,000, with the remaining money to be reserved for future litigation. As part of the
settlement, any former UNICCO workers employed between 1995 and December 2001 can file a claim against the company if they feel they were
sexually harassed. UNICCO will also implement new sexual harassment avoidance procedures and policies.
The recent settlement is not the first time the company has faced sexual harassment allegations. In 1998, UNICCO's CEO, Steven Kletjian, was accused of harassment by his former assistant. An out-of-court settlement was reached in the case.
