Homocide Leading Cause of Death in Pregnant Women

A Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene study on violence and pregnant women found that homicide is the leading cause of death in pregnant women, accounting for 20% of such deaths. Homicide accounts for 6% of deaths of non-pregnant women. The study concluded that this could be due to an increase in domestic abuse.
