The maker of the antidepressant Prozac recently settled a nine-year-old lawsuit that alleged the medication contributed to an Illinois man's suicide. Businessman Charles Berman was taking the drug shortly before he leapt to his death from a Chicago high rise in 1991. Berman's wife and children filed suit against Eli Lilly and Company shortly after his death, claiming Prozac caused his suicidal and violent behavior. The case, initially scheduled to go to trial October 21, settled out of court for an undisclosed amount.
