The family of an Illinois teenager who suffered irreversible brain damage when a Chicago hospital botched his delivery will receive $18.4 million as part of a settlement reached Tuesday in Cook County Circuit Court. Daniel Donohue was born at Palos Community Hospital on March 5, 1985 but suffered brain damage after hospital staff failed to deliver him in a timely manner. Donohue, who is unable to speak or walk, requires a permanent feeding tube as well as continuous physical, speech and occupational therapy.
