The Ingram Barge Company has settled a lawsuit with a former employee who suffered serious head injuries while working on a boat on the Ohio River. Christopher Eldridge, 24, was severely injured in 1999 when a cable aboard the barge snapped and struck him in the head. The $10 million settlement, reached Tuesday, is believed to be the largest ever awarded to an injured barge worker. The family plans to use the money to assist in the cost of Eldridge's daily medical care.
