Dawn Brudie, a former patient at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation, a Massachusetts nursing home, filed a lawsuit against the health care facility after she lost an eye in an August 2001 assault. Sokkohn Chrun, a fellow patient, was charged with assault and battery after he allegedly attempted to fondle Brudie and then tore her left eye out of its socket.

Brudie filed the lawsuit in Lynn Superior Court last week claiming that the nursing home failed to properly protect and monitor residents. Massachusetts public health officials are investigating the incident.
