New York Ironworker Awarded $20 Million in Construction Accident

A New York jury recently awarded $20 million to a construction worker who fell through a ductwork hole while working at a Federal courthouse in Islip. Brian Mahoney, a 36-year-old ironworker, suffered severe spinal injuries when he fell several feet after the ladder he was descending broke through plywood covering the hole. Mahoney filed suit against his employer, Turner Construction, alleging the company was liable for injuries he sustained.
