Oklahoma's Attorney General, Drew Edmondson, announced this week that the state has filed suit against the owner and driver of a tugboat that rammed into an interstate highway last month, killing 14 people. On May 26, Capt. William Joe Dedmon, an employee of Magnolia Marine Transport Co., was pushing two barges up the Arkansas River when they suddenly collided with a bridge along Interstate 40. Over 500 feet of the highway collapsed, sending 10 cars into the water.

Dedmon told officials with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) that he blacked out shortly before the accident occurred. Officials say it may cost over $15 million to repair the bridge. Magnolia is a subsidiary of Ergon Inc., a gas, oil and refining company also named in the lawsuit.
