Recently, a passenger aboard a United Airlines flight from Chicago to Hong Kong was arrested after the 747 aircraft was forced to make an unscheduled landing in Alaska. The Chicago man yelled at fellow passengers and the flight crew and proceeded to rip a telephone from the wall of the plane. Officials characterized the incident as classic air rage. The man was arrested after the plane landed in Anchorage.

"He had between four and six drinks and became agitated and abusive. He started screaming obscenities at passengers and flight personnel and refused instructions to sit," said an FBI agent. Two of the more than 275 passengers aboard the flight managed to subdue the man after he grabbed a phone out of a flight attendant's hands and pulled it from the wall. Assault onboard an airplane, commonly referred to as air rage, is a Federal crime.
