A jury awarded $4.2 million recently to a Maryland woman who suffered severe leg injuries when she fell in the icy parking lot of a sports arena. In 1996, Kerry Ann Lockwood suffered two broken bones in her right leg after slipping in the parking lot of the US Airways Arena in Landover. Lockwood filed suit against the arena's owner, Centre Group, alleging improper lot maintenance had caused her injuries. Centre officials claimed Lockwood assumed responsibility for her own welfare after entering the parking lot.
