Toxicology reports revealed that Charles Bishop, the 15-year-old pilot who committed suicide on January 5 by flying a stolen Cessna into a Tampa high rise, had not taken Accutane prior to his death. Accutane, used in the treatment of resistant nodular cystic, the most severe form of acne, has been linked to suicide and depression. Tests for marijuana, cocaine, antidepressants, and PCP also came back negative.
A prescription for Accutane was found in Bishop's home during a police search shortly after the crash. Accutane critics claim that the controversial medication can have "depressive effects on the brain" weeks after a person stops using the drug.
