The gender bias continues in the treatment of heart attack patients rushed to the ER. The quality of your care may depend on your gender this Baylor College of Medicine study finds.  Women with severe symptoms are nearly twice as likely as men to die within the first 24 hours of hospitalization.

Trasylol has been removed from U.S. stockpiles as a Canadian study confirms it leads to more patient deaths from heart attack and strokes. The drug, already recalled by Bayer, should not be used except in rare cases, researchers conclude.

Move over Los Angeles, Pittsburgh has grabbed your thunder and not in a good way. The American Lung Association in its “State of the Air” report released Thursday, says Pittsburgh surpassed Los Angeles because of short-term particle pollution which combines ash, soot, chemicals, metals diesel and aerosols as well as smog or ozone.

Beginning Monday at your favorite New York City eatery you can ask for ketchup, fries and get the calorie count for both. A federal judge Wednesday upheld a city health regulation requiring some chain restaurants post the calorie count of selections on their menu. The state restaurant association had challenged the rule as a violation of the First Amendment by forcing restaurants to carry a message.
