The sale of prescription drugs appears to be on a decline, partially due to generics and also likely due to a downturn in the economy.  There are no forcasts anytime soon to seeing double-digit profits that the pharmaceutical industry once enjoyed.

This second look at the data says that not as many children should be put on statins to lower cholesterol as the American Association of Pediatrics origionally recommended.

Dieters are being told they must eat MORE! - of the right things that is.  The Mediterranean Diet plus a handful of nuts added to the health overall of those apple shaped people who have high cholesterol. Just make sure the nuts aren't in addition to snack foods, but replace them.

Pfizer pulled ads featuring Robert Jarvik six months ago after a Congressional investigation began into false and misleading advertising by the drug industry. Now actual patients will be used and expect to see more direct-to-customer ads for symptoms that don't have to spend precious ad time on the side effects of specific drugs.

Muscle pain affects roughly one out of every 1,000 people taking statins to lower cholesterol.Now British researchers believe they know why - a genetic variation seems to be the basis for muscle pain and myopathy. About two percent of the population carry the two variant genes, which cause roughly 60% of the muscle pain problem.
