Officials are investigating whether ten patients at a Nebraska health clinic contracted hepatitis C because of hypodermic needle reuse at the clinic. A spokesperson with the Nebraska Health and Human Services System announced Thursday that authorities are currently contacting over 600 patients treated at the Fremont Area Medical Center between March 1, 2000 and December 31, 2001. Health officials believe dozens more may have been infected with the virus. Last month, several patients at an Oklahoma hospital contracted hepatitis C after a nurse reused hypodermic needles on patients.
