Walt Disney Co. reached an undisclosed settlement in a lawsuit filed by a woman blaming Disneyland's controversial Indiana Jones Adventure ride for her brain hemorrhage. The company reached the confidential settlement with the 46-year-old woman after doctors diagnosed her with brain hemorrhage that required surgery.

Disney agreed to the settlement days short of a court-ordered deadline that would have required the company to release a list of individuals who suffered similar brain injuries at the company's parks. Both parties say they are pleased with the terms of the settlement.

In 1999, Disney settled a similar lawsuit filed by a patron claiming the Indiana Jones Adventure ride caused a brain hemorrhage. As with the current settlement, the company refused to disclose the terms of the prior agreement.

Rough, jostling rides are the subject of increasing scrutiny. The settlement of the current suit comes days after a 28-year-old woman suffered a fatal aneurysm while riding the Goliath roller coaster at Six Flag's Magic Mountain amusement park.

Disneyland officials insist that the Indiana Jones Adventure ride is a safe ride. According to the company, over 40 million people have used the attraction since it opened more than six years ago.
