HandsOn Toys Inc. of Wilmington, Massachusetts recalled 100,000 infant rattles after evidence was revealed that suggested the toys could break open exposing a noisemaker that a toddler could choke on. The Consumer Product Safety Commission disclosed that the company had received eleven reports of rattles breaking, including one report of a 9-month-old girl whose mother found the noisemaker lodged in her daughter's throat. The noisemaker was quickly removed before the child suffered any injuries.

The Wiggly Giggler brand rattle sold in toy stores from May 2000 through September 2001.
