An English woman pleaded no contest to charges of air rage and assault after her abusive behavior caused a flight from Orlando, Florida to London to make an emergency landing in Bangor, Maine. The woman received a three-day jail sentence for hitting one passenger and verbally abusing another. After the flight crew saw the seriousness of the situation the pilot diverted the plane to Bangor.

Assault aboard an aircraft, commonly referred to as air rage, is a Federal crime. Officials say that the Bangor airport sees many air rage emergency landings, as it is the last stop before trans-Atlantic flights venture out over the ocean. At least 7 unscheduled landings have occurred in Bangor due to air rage incidents over the last few years.
