A California jury awarded $1 million last week to a woman who claimed she was fired after testifying for a coworker in a sexual harassment lawsuit. In 1994, the plaintiff testified that Kim Norman was sexually harassed while employed at Lawrenceville Livermore National Laboratory. After providing information that eventually led to a 1997
settlement with the lab, the plaintiff was terminated from her position with the company. Devastated, she attempted suicide and was soon admitted into a psychiatric hospital. After recovering, the plaintiff filed
suit against the lab, managed by the University of California, alleging she was dismissed in retaliation for her damaging testimony.
