New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer has accused Merrill Lynch analysts of working with investment bankers to boost stocks in an effort to gain underwriting and banking business. Analysts, however, privately ridiculed the stocks, proof of which Spitzer discovered through numerous company Emails.
