The government is only now officially acknowledging the mysterious "Gulf War Syndrome" that thousands of Persian Gulf veterans suffer from. The latest controversy surrounds the use of depleted uranium shells in the Balkan crisis and the concern that depleted uranium may cause cancer. Unfortunately, the military tends to react slowly to these health issues, prolonging the uncertainty for, and increasing the anxiety of veterans.
